Exposure and visualization are cornerstones of surgical technique and increase patient safety. Performing surgery in areas of difficult access is usually met with limited visibility. The Scintillent® Suction improves the visibility, not only with the added light source, but also with the ability to clear fluids from the surgical field via the suction tip. I also frequently use it as a lighted retractor while suturing in limited access areas. I have been using the Scintillent® Suction for over 2 years, and I never operate without it.

When accessing vital structures through a small incision, proper and prompt identification is key especially in emergencies. When called to assist a colleague who encountered brisk bleeding in a vaginal hysterectomy, the Scintillant® was the tool that helped me identify the retracted IP after the pedicle was accidentally let go prior to suturing. Having a tool that has been proven useful will definitely permit for improved surgical outcomes.
